What Your Symptoms Are Trying to Tell You (And How to Decode the Message)

If you’ve ever wondered what your symptoms are trying to tell you, you’re not alone.

You’ve gone to the doctors. You’ve tried the prescriptions.
You’ve followed the diets, the plans, the protocols.

You’ve even Googled until your eyes went blurry, binged YouTube videos late into the night, and dabbled in that one healing modality your friend swore would change your life.

And maybe…
You still wake up exhausted.
You still carry tension in your chest.
You still feel the weight that won’t budge — physically or emotionally.
You still use wine, weed, sugar, or scrolling (to name a few) just to get through the week.

Maybe it’s anxiety. Maybe it’s digestive issues. Maybe it’s chronic fatigue, mysterious pain, or just a deep sense that something isn’t quite right.

What if these aren’t just random symptoms?
What if they’re messages?

What if your body, your emotions, your mind — all of them — are trying to speak to you?
Not to scare you. Not to sabotage you.
But to guide you back to something deeper.

This blog isn’t about quick fixes or magical supplements.
It’s about reorienting how you see your symptoms.
Not as enemies to conquer.
But as messengers — pointing you toward the root.

A row of seven human silhouettes glowing in rainbow-colored auras—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—symbolizing the chakra system and the energetic language of the body.

My body isn’t broken. It’s speaking in color, sensation, and signal.

Your Body Speaks — But Do You Know the Language?

We are trained to override, suppress, or silence discomfort.

Headache? Take something.
Anxiety? Take something, Breathe through it — or avoid it altogether.
Back pain? Take something or must’ve been the way you slept.

But what if…

  • That migraine is repressed anger?
  • That gut issue is your body holding fear or betrayal?
  • That chronic fatigue is burnout wrapped in unspoken resentment?

Symptoms are the body’s language of truth — the messages we’ve ignored or weren’t taught how to understand.

When we stop seeing them as problems to be fixed and start honoring them as signals…
we begin to translate pain into wisdom.

Learning to Listen to the Whispers Before They Become Screams

The body rarely starts with a roar.

First come the little nudges — the tired eyes, the tight shoulders, the irritation you dismiss as a “mood.”

But when we don’t listen, the volume increases.

Suddenly that whisper becomes a panic attack.
That annoyance becomes rage.
That ache becomes chronic illness.

Learning to pause and ask:

What is this trying to tell me?
can mean the difference between early healing… and prolonged struggle.

The body is always talking.
The question is: Are we brave enough to listen?

What your symptoms are trying to tell you may be different from what they are telling someone else, because your lived experience is different.

The Stories Beneath the Symptoms

You are not your diagnosis.

Yes, medical language has its place.
But it’s not the full story.

The anxiety didn’t just show up last year — it may be tied to patterns of silence from childhood.
The digestive issues might have more to do with emotional “indigestion” than gluten.
That extra weight you carry? It could be unexpressed grief (or an armor of protection), not just calories.

When we start asking:

What story lives beneath this symptom?
we uncover roots we didn’t even know were there.

And roots?
They can be transformed.

When the Mind Can’t Explain It — The Body Does

So many of us were taught to intellectualize our healing.

“Think positive.”
“Manifest better.”
“Just reframe it.”

But some experiences aren’t stored in the brain — they’re stored in the body.

Unfelt emotions. Traumatic imprints.
The heartbreak you never spoke about.
The moment you learned not to cry.
The day you realized your voice wasn’t safe.

Your body remembers.

Symptoms are sometimes the only way your system knows how to release what’s been trapped.

This isn’t about blaming yourself for being unwell.
It’s about giving yourself permission to feel — so your body doesn’t have to hold it all anymore.

The body holds what the mouth couldn’t say.

From Curiosity to Compassion: A New Way Forward

This isn’t about overanalyzing every sneeze or spiral.

It’s about shifting from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What’s this trying to show me?”

Curiosity calms the nervous system.
Compassion opens space for healing.

Whether your journey begins with a question, a session, or a quiet pause —
it begins within.

You don’t need to have all the answers right now.
But if you’re willing to listen…
your body just might start whispering back.

healing doesn’t feel like a fight.

It feels like finally being heard.

How I Stopped Collecting Diagnoses and Started Listening Instead

Before 2014, I had a team of doctors, a spreadsheet full of diagnoses, and more prescriptions than I could count. That was before I truly understood what holistic healing could mean.

In 2014, I made a bold decision: I renounced all illness and committed fully to my own holistic healing journey.

Now, in 2025, at 60 years old, I have no doctors on call, no spreadsheet of diagnoses, and no prescriptions—over-the-counter or otherwise.

Does that mean all my former diagnoses magically disappeared? No.
Does that mean I’ll never seek allopathic treatments again? Also no.

Here’s what it does mean:

  • I began asking my body what it was trying to tell me.
  • I learned to understand the language of my symptoms.
  • I committed to healing the root causes of my physical and emotional pain.

If I ever face an urgent or emergent situation, I lean on traditional methods with discernment.

But here’s the curious thing:
Once I truly began healing at the root… I almost never need to.

Ready to Go Deeper?

Part of the journey is learning how to decode what your symptoms are trying to tell you rather than silencing them.

You don’t have to decode the messages alone.

If your body or emotions are speaking louder than usual… it might be time to listen in a new way.
